What is Depo-Provera?
Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), also known as depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) in injectable form and sold under the brand name Depo-Provera among others, is a hormonal medication of the progestin type. It is utilized as a method of birth control and as a component of menopausal hormone therapy. Additionally, it is employed to address conditions such as endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, paraphilia, and certain types of cancer. This medication is available in standalone form and in combination with an estrogen. Administration methods include oral ingestion, sublingual use, or injection into a muscle or fat tissue.
